Concert Press Conference at Genting

Yesterday, Joey was at Genting Highlands in Malaysia attending a press conference for her upcoming Show Up Joey Yung Malaysia Concert. The concert is scheduled to be held on the 4th and 5th March at the same venue. She told the media there although she is single now, she hoped to find someone who is a little silly and can whole heartedly accept her despite her identity. As an artiste, she cannot hold hands with her boyfriend in public. If she does get a boyfriend in the future, she will not reveal him unless the media caught them on camera.

Joey does not want to date someone from the entertainment circle because she does not feel she's beautiful girl and does not fit in with the lot who are generally beautiful people.The guys in the circle receives a lot of temptations therefore she is afraid her boyfriend then might not appreciated her. Nevertheless, she admits that Eason Chan and Lau Ching Wan are a few of the male artistes in the circle who are very faithful to their other half. Regarding Gillian Chung of Twins who got a nod for Best Leading Actress at the Golden Bauhinia Awards, Joey said she never thought that Gill will be getting it faster than Ah Sa (Charlene Choi). That is because Ah Sa was in more movies than Gill was. Despite that, she is very happy for Gill.

Yesterday, Joey accepted an interview in CRHK and told that a few days ago, she was watching back some 1986,87 JSG awards VCD until dawn and her eyes are swollen ans had to wear sunglasses, she said : "The atmosphere then was so much livelier than now.I treat this as a chance to remember Roman.The part that left a big impression on me was Principal Tam (Alan Tam) winning the 3 big awards, that was wow!"

Currently Joey is learning singing from a veteran singer and reorganising her fansclub. Is she learning singing in order to defend her stand as a Heavenly Queen? She explains : "Could say it's one of the reasons, but the main reason is hoping to do the best. I dont want to go running to my van and cry my eyes out inside whenever I start singing bad. I may look like someone who's playful but when it comes to my job, I dont joke around. " She also talked about her singing lessons : "My teacher told me that there's enough emotions when i'm singing and I have improved on my technique but my intonation and pronounciation needs to be clearer. I have stopped learning singing for a year and I felt that I've given more than I received (on her learning). I feel kind of empty."

She revealed that her fansclub is reorganising and changing its name to accommodate international fans especially Mainland fans. A new website will be set up. She said :"There are a few new names I have in mind like Joey's Big World or my car's number plate JY616. Before, I never get the chance to interact with my fans but after everything is settled, I'm going to meet up with my fans in a party." Gillian Chung of Twins was nominated for Best Leading Actress in a Movie at the Golden Bauhinia Awards. Joey expressed joy over Gillian's nomination and feel that Gillian will still be happy and treat it as an encouragement even if she doesnt get the award. Does she have hope for her movie? "I'm envious of Gillian. i dont want to think so much. (Are you concentrating more on getting Female Singer awards rather than Best Leading Actress awards?) Yes."

With so many awards won at the recent award shows, where does she get the place to store them all? She joked that her home is big enough for it. Actually she keeps a portion of the awards at her company. It is confirmed that she will be having a 2005 concert at the end of the year.

The Story Behind Car Dent

Earlier at a event, Joey told reporters that the dent in her car happened due to act of nature; strong winds blew her parking lot gate and causing it to crash into her car.However, there is a humantarian story behind the accident. Yesterday, a volunteer worker, a Mrs. Chu emailed Ming Pao, in hope of revealing the true story behind the 'act of nature', in revealing that Joey is passionate in helping people. Mrs. Chu wish to let everyone know that Joey is kind hearted and generous.

According to Mrs. Chu, on January 13th at 4 pm, Joey attended a promotional photo shoot session with a group of children with disablility in a home in Wang Tau Hom Estate. Although Joey was tired, but when the supervisor of the place explained to Joey about the hardship that a disabled child goes through, she was attentive and listened carefully to each word spoken. Although some of the children appeared to be shy or nervous, Joey proved to be a lively guest as she sought the attention of the children by playing and joking with them. The kids were happy about it. During the photo shoot, a little girl sneezed and Joey asked the girl whether she needed a tissue. Mrs. Chu feels that Joey was sincere toward the kids and it is evident in the eyes of people who also around at that time.

After the photo shoot ended, Joey got into her van ,getting ready to leave the place. It was then the act of nature happened. The gate at the home was already opened when suddenly a big gush of wind blew the gate back to its original place. Another volunteer rushed to grab hold of the gate but unfortunately, Joey's van was already moving out and collide with the gate.

During the interview she had with reporters that previous day, she stated that it was 'an act of nature' and wasnt angry about it. Mrs. Chu feels that such virtue ought to be praised and although Joey is young and is also a hugely popular female singer, she is still kind hearted and generous. Besides giving Joey praises, she also wishes to thank Joey's mother. Yesterday, reporters told Joey who was recording her album, about the email by Mrs. Chu praising her good deed. Joey said : "It's in the past and there's no need to mention it anymore. However I would like to thank Mrs. Chu on her intention, but it's only a small matter."

Earlier Joey placed her Beetle Volkswagon car on auction sale for The Sun-Orientaldaily Charity Fund and it was bought by a male reader for the price of HK$88,000. Joey hopes to thank the reader for his generosity.

To support the cause of the charity fund, Joey placed her 4-years-old birthday present, a Beetle Volkswagon on sale. The car was bought and a total of HK$88,000 was given to the fund. Joey was so happy over this that she told her manager that she wanted to thank this particular reader in person. Mani said : "Joey is very busy lately but since the car did brought her luck and though she's going to miss the car, she wants to thank the generous donor. "

It has been a smooth ride to the top for Joey ever since she burst into the music scene in 1999. At the recent HK music awards, she was the biggest winner with total 20 awards in hand, adding to her award collection to 100 awards in 5 years. Nevertheless, being as young as she is, the one thing she wish the most is to sit down somewhere and quietly have her favourite bowl of hot porridge.

From the Ugly Duckling title which was given by the media to the beautiful swan that she has blossomed into, she has worked hard to get to where she is now. As she gets more popular by the day, she has not yet lost her determination and diligence; the same qualities that her co-workers and people who worked with her before admired and are still admiring. One of her most unforgettable memories was a promise she made to a magazine writer : "If I get popular one day, I will not start feeling arrogant about it." And true to word, five years later, she is sitting on the Heavenly Queen throne and yet she is not arrogant.

She said with sincerity : "I'm also a human being and the people who worked with me are human being as well; it's only that I'm in the front stage while they are in the backstage. What I performed onstage are also hard work from the people behind. I hear alot of praises but I feel : I'm not that clever!" Regarding the praise of her diligence, Joey advises the new generation of singers : "Dont think that work is only between you and the company. You have to do for yourself. Singing, lisping, lip-synching seemed no big deal but I appreciated every chance I get to perform onstage because do you know who's in the audience? All of you are watching me perform.

In these 5 years, she has won The Most Popular Female Singer award, Media Award and Best Gold Song award, all major award prizes. Will she fulfill her biggest wish to buy a bigger home? Joey lowered her head and think for a while before answering :"What I wish to do is sit down comfortably, with a bowl of hot beef tongue porridge, slowly savouring the taste. Career
The annual award shows had ended with Joey being the overall winner. Besides getting an award for her song Only one In The World which is a song tribute to mothers, she also beaten Andy Lau to receive the Media award with 20 prizes in total. Mentioning about her excellent result, Joey who was in Tsim Sha Tsui, getting interviewed by Appledaily said : "That night I thought Andy was sure to get it. I do hope that I would get it but I never tell myself that this is my ultimatum. I'd still continue working even if I get the award. After RTHK show, I went from completely tensed up to relaxed and even had noodle when I got home." On the night she won her Media Award, the first congrats on the phone came from her mother and the first thank yous she gave on the phone was to boss, Albert Yeung. The one thing that playing in her head then was whether she should call her father who left the family and divorced her mother? In the end, she did not call.

She said : "I know he'd be happy and I think of calling him. At least say a few words but in the end, I didnt call him.....well then, I think I'll give him a call after this interview." Does she still hold a grudge toward her father? "I was never mad at him. I've been with him in this lifetime yet I do not understand him. As his daughter, my image of him is somewhat fuzzy. We dont understand each other deep enough so i want to sing a song to express myself. My mum has heard me sing Little Angel, The Only One In The World. I copied a letter I gave to my father, to my record producer so he'll know what's in my mind." Does she want to restore the strained relationship between them? She nodded : "He's still my father but it needs time. I will help if he needs it and I hope he has a good life. Sometimes when I see Denise's family, I envy them."

Earlier, the Tsunami disaster took the world by surprise and Joey has a new way of looking at life now : "One wave, one second, everything is gone and in my heart, I love my father. Although we dont see each other often but i'll suddenly miss him in the middle of the night and wanting to know if he's alright." Besides singing a song for him, Joey also revealed that she will be singing 'calming' song : "I will be singing songs that depicted different feelings and hope no more natural disaster happens in this new year."

When the topic changed to her and Miriam Yeung are on unfriendly terms due to competition, Joey chuckled and said :" I read from the newspapers and knew from there that we were not on friendly terms.We do chat when we meet each other and dont hate each other. You think this is ancient drama; we need to use our kung fu stance when we meet?" Though the outside world recognises that Joey is much better singer than Miriam, the film world acknowledges Miriam's acting. "I have not yet given people confidence in my acting. I dont think I sing better than Miriam, she's got experience, felt things. When I sing, it's basically technique and I learned it from other people plus audience likes my voice especially singing love songs." Any other ultimatums? She said : "To break into the Taiwanese market, hope to improve,learn how to interact with people. I'm renting a place now and hopefully get to buy a big house."

Love
Last year September, Joey announced her breakup with her 'invisible' boyfriend and has yet find a new love. She refers to her love life as a 'dry pond' : "After the old relationship, to find a new one is hard. People from this field is a little scared of me; scared that I'd get busy. No normal guys will want to date me. Second reason is dating cant be done in public and we need to stay at home. This is not normal so people night not want to date you."

Rumours is a word that seldom follows Joey thus Joey joked that it's probably someone has cut down her peach blossom tree( in Feng Shui, it's the tree to use when looking for love) : "Maybe I'm not pretty?I'm considered quite a 'dry' female singer. I wont give my number to just anyone. Guys said a few words, I'd be running through the backdoor. Maybe that's why I dont get rumours." There are a lot of pretty boys and girls in showbiz but for Joey, she does not want to date someone from inside.That's because male stars do not give her the feeling of security : "I wont date someone from showbiz. Everyone is busy in this field. There's too many lure within showbiz. I'm a security-prone person, I dont want to have my heart hanging by a string. I asked an expert before, will I get a good husband? He told me, with my crazy personality, it's better that I find someone who's a little stupid. In fact, dating is not important. I'm alright by myself. My personality is kind of like a man's. Nic Tse and Stephen Fung never thought of me as a girl. The others I leave it to fate."

Health
A couple of years ago, Joey was plagued with vocal problems and her voice was hoarse. Though it's much better now, however there are times her voice would seem unstable and weak. It was like a time bomb thus she needs to take good care of it.

She said :"The one thing that can make me do into depression and getting stressed is recording. I'm currently recording my album and there was one time I went karaoke with my friends. I didnt sing much but i did talk aloud. The next day, my voice was weak and needed to see doctor.It's fated that I need to be good and not get too stressed, need to take care of my voice." She laughed : "My vocal chords are very delicate and I depend on it to earn money and it's very easy for it to be tired. I know of one foreign singer who completely stopped talking to her husband before her concert and communicated using pen and paper. I think it's a good idea because when i speak, I cant stop from getting too excited and would tend to shout." She continued :"I started getting hoarse from 2001 and the chords gets tired from time to time. I used to think it was the end of the world but now I understood that it's a health condition. I'd tell my company to not give lots of work to do. I can do it but my voice cant. My mum cooked a lot of soups and everyday i carry that ugly-looking bottle with no sweet stuff in it. This year, i'll be learning singing in HK and learn many other techniques."

Joey Emerges As Winner of The Year

The very last 2004 result slip for the HK music world was presented last night. At the RTHK Top Chinese Songs Awards, HK sees Joey emerge as the overall winner again, defeating Andy Lau, Hacken Lee, Leo Ku and Miriam Yeung. She won the Media Award, an award that is given to artistes based on the highest award count. She won 20 awards in total. Andy followed behind with 16 awards; Hacken 14.5 while Miriam and Leo tied with 13 awards each. Hacken and Joey garnered awards for Most Excellent Popular Male and Female Singer and they performed their new song, Not A Moment At Ease.

During Joey's thank you speech, she said :"Five years ago, I was a fan, studying in high school. I never thought that I'd be a singer winning awards today. I wont let you all down therefore I hope in 05, I'd still have the chance to come up and get an award!" Also, as the last award presentation to see whose fashion sense wins, Joey was the most eye-catching one with her belly baring mermaid dress.

A Dent On Joey's Car

Joey's new car, a HK$400,000 Toyota Alphard, met with a little accident while on its way out of Joey's home. Joey told the media about this at the RTHK Top Ten Gold Songs Awards press conference that while she was driving out of her parking area, her car's right side was hit by the gate in the parking area which moved due to strong winds.

When she reached her destination, her parked car became an exhibit item. People around recognised her car's number plate and actually posed beside the indentation to take photos. Her record company initially wanted the management of her place to compensate her but Joey declined,saying :" What happened is nature's work, that day it was so cold and the wind was strong. They never thought this might happen so I think I'll just fix it myself."

The RTHK Top Ten Gold Songs Award Presentation is the very last of the 4 major award presentation for 2004. Tonight, the winner of the Media Award will be known and it is a fight between Joey and Andy Lau. At the moment, Joey is leading with a total of 15 awards followed by Andy with 13. Yesterday, Joey and Hacken both predict that there will be 2 winners. During the press conference, RTHK DJ and emcee Chow Kwok Fung asked Joey whether she has confidence to get the Media award, Joey answered that her biggest rival is Andy. Joey: "No way I can be compared to Andy, I was only lucky to get to be the lead now. Andy is so talented and I'm already prepared. Even if I do get the award, it's probably a shared one."

Besides that, MTV will held their music awards in Bangkok, Thailand on Feb 3th. MTV has planned a music awards cum charity concert for the victims of the Tsunami disaster in Phuket. Besides collecting funds for UNICEF, it is helping to save Thailand's tourism. When international stars heard that the MTV awards will be turned into a concert, everyone rushed and offered their star power. However, due to the small venue, MTV only selected 20,30 singers to the concert, those who are to perform includes Christina Aguilera and Namie Amuro as well as Hong Kong's Joey Yung.

Joey Received Award For Best Dressed

During the Lunar New Year, Joey should be in Beijing performing for a CCTV show. She was asked if she will be wearing something similar to what Coco Lee wore which was a deep V dress, Joey answered that she is not going wear those because it would be cold then, and she do not want goosebumps to appear. She would probably wear something more solemn-looking. When mentioned about the CCTV show, she was reminded of an embarassing incident that happened in Beijing. At the time, she was working and the weather was very cold. The place where she performed had turned on the heater for her room but she deemed it too warm, so warm that her nose bled. Joey Wore Old Clothes To Movie Premiere

Francis Ng, Eason Chan and Joey's new movie Crazy and The City held its premiere party in Causeway Bay the night before last and attracted a crowd of spectators. Joey wore a previously wore jacket to the premiere and was commented on being stingy despite earning loads of money. She explained she wanted to save money and wear back her old clothings : "It's never easy to earn money, why not save money on buying new clothes? Who'd guessed Eason and I will wear similar jackets?Truthfully, my fans likes me for my singing and not the clothes I wear, so my voice is my most important asset."

Any hopes to get a film award from this movie? She said : "Not possible. Acting, besides being diligent, needs talent. Seeing that the movie's ticket sales is good already made me very happy. I've seen movies that only sold 2000 tickets overall and I considered myself lucky because people still want me in their movie plus, Francis and Eason as the leading actors, i dont feel pressured. If a whole film depended on me alone, it's a gone case.I have the acting ability of an elementary school student, however I do have confidence that before I'm 30, I'd have a box-office hit film."

Eason have yet congratulate Joey on her Most Popular Female Singer win, he said : "I congratulate her. Soon I'll be recording a video and it will broadcasted on TV." Joey Thanks Deborah For Help

Yesterday afternoon, Joey and Hacken Lee attended Roadshow MV Selection 2004 and both was given the awards for Most Voted Female and Male Singer. The Top Ten MV awards are given to Hacken's Acrobat, Miriam Yeung's Small City Big Matter, Leo Ku's Love and Sincerity, Joey's Only One In the World, Twins' Femininity, Andy Hui and Deanie Yip's Imperfect Beauty, Anthony Wong's Jade Drama, Edmond Leung's Navy, Denise Ho's Glamorous and Shawn Yue's Survivor.

She thanked Deborah (Nic Tse's mum) for helping her out when she went shopping for her award show clothes. Joey was really having a headache over what to wear then and luckily Deborah sent her a jacket and a scarf. Although both items are not suitable to what's she wearing to the awards, she was touched by her generousity and promises to wear them out for future events.

The night before, Joey was guest performer at the Po Leung Kuk Charity Show. She wore a 4-inch high heels shoes which were half a size larger than her feets. Although she already stuffed tissues into the front of the shoes, it was still loose and she almost slipped from wearing them.

Chapman To (of Infernal Affairs and The Attractive One fame) has announced that he will be marrying his girlfriend. Joey congratulates him and said : "When I saw him at the Crossing Borders Show, I feel that his eyes are not that angry anymore and he looks peaceful with himself." When asked if she has the urge to marry as well, she replied that she cant get marry because there's no one to get married to!

Joey Couldn't Sleep After Win

All have been going well so far for Joey this new year. After her Most Popular Female Singer win, Joey received an invitation from CCTV to perform for their Chinese New Year programme and had accepted 2 new commercials. With three good news in hand, Joey feel that these probably indicate a good year ahead and hope to keep her good record.

The 2 new commercials she received are mainly targetted at women and both offered 7-digit fees, however since she's yet to sign contracts, therefore both brands cannot be revealed. She also said although it's still the Year Of the Monkey and is a year which is actually bad for her, she did not face bad luck. In contrary, it has been a good year with a lot of happy memories. She laughed : "There's must be someone who's good luck right helping me." To thank all her coworkers who endured long hours and missing sleeps, she decided to repay them by giving them bigger red packets: "It's probably comes up to 6-digit sum. As long as everybody is happy."

Joey has yet compensate herself after her win, she poutingly said: "I want to go for a vacation but i cant get holidays. " She had only went out with her colleagues for a normal supper. Joey said :"It's time problem (it was around 1 am). We only wanted to eat something good so it doesnt need to be expensive. I'd rather keep the money and donate it to the Tsunami victims." In fact Joey was so happy over her win, she didnt manage to sleep at all that night.

The night before, Joey, Andy Lau, Fiona Sit, Wilfred Lau and Endy Chow were invited to appear on JSG weekly show. Joey and Andy sang a duet together. Joey happily said later that she was elated to be able to sing a song with Andy and claims this was their very first time. She hope she was able to learn something from Andy. Besides that, Joey and Hacken Lee emerged winners for the Roadshow MV Selection 2004 as the female and male singer with the most vote.

The 2004 JSG Top Ten Songs Awards Presentation was held last night at the HK Coliseum. Andy Lau was the biggest winner with 5 awards while Joey is the winner among the female artistes with 4.5 awards.

This is second year in a row that Joey grabbed the award for Most Popular Female Singer and due to this, she shed tears. She said: "Thanks to my label. Without them, I wouldnt be where I am today. No other company would have done this for me and in these few years I've experienced alot of deaths and goodbyes as those who loves me has already left me or went to other companies." She also got a Gold Song award and Most Popular Mandarin Song Silver award for The Only One In the World and Lonely Portrait respectively.Most Popular Advertisment Song Gold award was also given to her. Besides that, she also garnered a live performance with Anthony Wong in the Community Chest Live Different although this award is not included into the Media award calculation.Miriam Yeung trails behind with 4 awards.

After tears of elation from receiving TVB JSG Most Popular Female Singer Award the night before, Joey told reporters that she had worked hard for the year 2004 and getting awards is a sign of recognition hence the tears. She said: "Although usually I looked carefree and jovial in front of the media, there are times when work stress gets to me and I have no chance to breath. I'm overjoyed that I got a prize for my mandarin songs thus I hope in the future, I would do better in the Mandarin music market. A group of singers attended the rehearsal and prayers ceremony for tonight's 2004 JSG Top 10 Songs Award Presentation. For the Most Popular Female Singer award, Miriam Yeung, Joey and Kelly Chen are the top 3 contenders. Joey and Miriam both praised and voted for one another. On the Male Singer side, at the moment, Andy Lau, Hacken Lee and Leo Ku are in the lead.

Miriam says: "I'm confident but Joey also got a good chance, honestly! Truthfully, I hope to get the Best Gold Song award. Award shows are games, as long as everyone is happy, it's good." Joey told reporters that she didnt know she got in the top 3 and when she heard that Miriam voted for her, she says: "So polite?Thank you. I think she's got a good chance as well!" The award is more of a Joey-Miriam race but Joey says: "I'm quite satisfied with my result and if there's a surprise, it would be great. However, if there arent, I will work harder this year." Apparently the chance for Joey to get the award is higher compared to Miriam though.

There are 2 speculation to how the top prizes will be distributed. First speculation: Andy and Kelly are long-time friends of the Asia Pacific Most Popular Male and Female Singers prizes and that stays. Hacken and Joey will get the Most Popular Male and Female Singers awards while Miriam and Leo will be fighting for the Best Gold Song with Leo's song Love and Sincerity having the bigger chance.

The other speculation would be that Andy, who last received his Most Popular Male Singer award in 2000 will be getting it again. If it's really Andy who's the winner, there's a chance Miriam will be getting the female singer award. Hacken will be the Asia Pacific Most Popular Male Singer award receipient with Kelly for the female equivalent. Joey will be the Best Gold Song winner.

In Crazy And The City, Eason Chan and Joey belongs to the police force and during one scene, Eason managed to solve a big case. Joey and other colleagues rush up to hug him. Eason was having a great time shooting this scene, as he doesnt need to worry if rumours with Joey and him happens; only afraid she may be put off by his sweat.

During this hugging session, all the cast members knew one another very well, so when the director said cut, they were still having a good time. When Joey hears of Eason saying he's worried she might get put off hugging him because he was sweaty, she jokingly says: "I'm not afraid. Actually I'm worried for him. His wife (girlfriend Hilary Tsui) might punish him by twisting his ears when she sees us hugging."

Joey is concerned about the victims in the tsunami disaster and has brought out her four-year-old Beetle Volkswagon to be auctioned for the donation money. In order to make sure the buyer is satisfied with the car, Joey personally forked out money to 'beautify' it.

Joey tells that she has modified the car's exterior and interior before she auctions it off. Lo Hong Ka is a well known bird's nest health company and they have taken notice of Joey, especially her smooth skin by having her as their new product spokesperson. Other than her immense level of popularity, the company is also interested in her healthy image which emit a friendly air around her and thinks this goes well with the company's image as well.

For her first bird's nest advertisement, although there's no high-risk scene, but to make sure the ad goes well, she started mask treatment on herself a week before the shooting, hoping it would feel and look good. Besides that, Joey also eats bird's nest occasionally, thus making her skin look supple. Not only that, she's been feeling happy during filming. Lo Hong Ka has prepared a box full of bird's nest to be eaten by Joey during the filming as well. The biggest tsunami in 40 years destroyed people's lives and properties worth millions of dollars in 12 nations. In order to help ease the suffering of the victims, the whole of HK participated in fundraising. EEG and its singers held a fundraising concert at the HKCEC at Kowloon yesterday night. Joey, Nic Tse, Twins and many more donated their money which totalled up to HK$635,000. EEG boss, Albert Yeung donated a similar amount of money while Paula Tsui also donated HK$100,000. With donation from various sources, EEG Charity Fund has successfully collected HK$4,126,820 which is later given to the Red Cross Society.

At the opening of the concert, all 20 EEG singers came out and sang We Are The World.After that, Joey was the first to sing. She says: "After this disaster, I find that life is fragile and everyone should learn to appreciate everything in front of us. Able to help people is actually a joyful thing and the group of volunteers are great people. HK rises to the occasion when its help is needed. I feel proud to be a Hong Kong citizen." She then proceeded to sing out My Pride. So far, HK has collected about HK$200 million from donations.

Although Joey won the CRHK Most Beloved Female Singer award, she lost the CRHK Female Singer Gold award to Miriam and only got the silver award. On the fashion department however, Joey manages to win over all the female singers with her creative gypsy look. Joey tells that she thought of this fashion style by herself and she was also seen wearing the gypsy look in Hearts Of Fencing 2. The gentle yet bright colourful costume seem to bring out the message that it will be a happy year ahead.

Joey and Andy Hui attended a CRHK poll event and both invited Shu Man, their albums producer. Both singers confessed they threw tantrums in the recording studio before. Shu Man revealed that there was once, Joey didnt want to record songs. Shu Man, in the end, managed to persuade Joey. Joey later sent a complaint message to her company. Shu Man then disallow her from bringing her cell phone into the recording room. Joey threw a tantrum and left the place.

Joey explained she and Shu Man has known each other for a long time and that she seldom gets angry like that.She joked she's actually a wolf in sheep's clothing : "I wasnt satisfied with the lyrics of that particular song but i trusted Shu Man. I wont lose my temper in front of other people. He's my producer and he needs to know what I like and dont like so i cannot not say about it. People thinks I'm nice-tempered all the time but I'm a wolf in sheep's clothing. Still I wont lose my temper in front of people for no reasons."

For unhappy matters, Joey also calls up Shu Man for help. When he picks up, Joey will start crying, she laughed saying: "He sounded like a priest and I was like making a confession!" An earthquake near Indonesia created enormous tsunami waves to crash into several Southeastern Asian countries, causing massive destruction and claiming thousands of victims. Death toll are still on the rise. Some of these countries are few of the world's poorest. International aid and help from many countries has been pledged.

HK artistes are aware of this disaster and are trying to help. EEG artistes are the very first to offer financial aid by staging a charity concert. Jackie Chan has already donated HK$500,000. EEG has decided to have their Send Love To South Asia concert on January 2nd at the HK Convention Centre in Kowloon. Singers like Nic Tse, Joey, Twins, Yumiko Cheng, Boy'z, Isabella Leung and so on will be performing. The concert production fee will be handled by EEG themselves and is not taken from the charity fund. However, only 2000 HK$100 tickets will be sold on that while EEG target of HK$1 million will have to come from donors. The first of the 4 annual award shows,Metroradio Hit Awards was held last night and 104 prizes were given at the end of the award show.

Andy Lau, Andy Hui and Joey were the three biggest winners of the night with each garnering 7 awards. Hacken Lee trails behind with 6 and a half awards while Leo Ku got 5 awards. Miriam Yeung received 4 while Twins got 3 awards where 2 of it are shared prizes. Kelly Chen, Jolin Tsai and Gigi Leung got 3. Yesterday, more than 20 EEG artistes attended the grand opening night of a Japanese restaurant. they include Nic Tse, Joey, Twins, Yumiko Cheng, Isabella Leung, Boy'z and Albert Yeung and wife and many more.

The food served at the opening night includes seafoods like lobsters.Isabella was seated next to her idol, Nic and next to her was Joey.Later, Nic and Joey started feeding sushi to each other, leaving Isabella in the middle of what they were doing, feeling embarrassed. And then Joey fed Isabella. Reporters asked if Isabella was really embarassed by this, she says: "I am! Joey attended World Cellists Christmas Performance Special in the arrival hall of the HK International Airport and this event attracted a large crowd of spectators. Under the leadership of Lee Chui Yee, 200 young cellists performed and Joey sung several Christmas songs as well as her new song Chihuahua.

Joey who constantly goes in and goes out of the airport, thus joked that when she returned here, it feels like it's her second home.During her performance, the music suddenly stopped. Joey says: "Thank goodness I managed to save myself. During rehearsal, no problem occured. An incident like this also happened not long, it's like it's testing my memory ability. Nic Tse, Joey,Twins, Boy'z, Jaycee Chan, Isabella Leung,Yumiko Cheng, Deep Ng, Anthony Wong. Don Li and a group of EEG newcomers performed for the Love CD Christmas Tree 04 Charity Concert in Tsim Sha Tsui. Dave Wong and Sally Yeh werent present because they are not in HK at the time. EEG boss, Albert Yeung and his wife as well as executives Ng Yu and Mani Fok attended.

Before the start of the concert, EEG big bro and big sis, Nic and Joey was lifted up high on top of a Christmas tree to light it up. The tree measured 30-foot high and is made up of 18,000 CDs. When Joey was high up at the top of the tree, she cried out that it was scary and didnt know how go back down: "It was high and the wind was strong and cold. The people looked so small and I'm shaking like Elvis, even more! Luckily the people around kept taking pictures and that made me feel like I'm a tourist attraction. (Did you have safety precaution on?) We were fastened to a safety belt so it's quite stable."

Later after the tree lighting, Joey changed into a bright red back-baring top and danced a hot Christmas track. It was the highlight of the whole concert. The concert managed to collect HK$210,000 of donation money.

Joey was guest at the Olympian City Hundred Foot Christmas Tree lighting event. According to Joey, the tree is 38 metres tall which is more than 100 foot, taller than the tree in Central by 3 metres. The tree was dressed up with 300,000 bulbs of light and costs nearly HK$5 million. Joey was lifted up to the 20 foot high marker to light the lights. She later laughed and says:"At first I thought I really have to go all the way up. Now I dont have to."

At the show, Joey and a group of little friends sang along to Christmas songs. Joey revealed that she has prepared more than 100 X'Mas presents for her company friends, she said :"The presents they requested are all here, even the tea lady will be getting one. (Yumiko said she will be giving a big present to the boss!)I thought about it, everyone has a gift, no worries!" On Christmas Eve, Joey is not working therefore she planned to celebrate Christmas together with friends. However, she is not planning to held a pajamas party anymore. On the 25th, she will be the guest at a newly opened restaurant for a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Alan Tam usually openly criticises the male singers but joked saying that he dare not judge the ladies for fear they may get angry. Joey feels that Alan as a senior, his thoughts and criticism are respected and received, she says: "Girls dont neccessarily get angry at that. Just like when the singers were voting, I still voted for Denise although she didnt vote for me.It's politeness." Taking abut singers voting, TVB held a JSG singers voting show where the singers are required to vote for the male singers ,female singers and newcomers that they support. Joey was in Diocesan Boys' School yesterday attending a press conference for a music concert to celebrate Christmas. The Diocesan Boys' School's Christmas concert will be held on this Thursday at the HK International Airport's arrival hall.During then, there will be the lighting up of Christmas lights by Joey. Joey will be wearing a bright red dress for the event. She joked saying that she wants to sing at the aircraft landing area : "There'd be so many planes surrounding me and it's really cool."

On that night, international maestro Lee Chui Yee will be bringing along 200 young cellists to perform. Joey will be singing a Christmas song. She says: "I feel pressured and nervous. I dont know what to wear. I think the stage will be spectacular and this is my first time performing with so many children on stage. I really need to practise my song. (What will you be wearing?) Red.I'm looking for red dress now. But when I'm looking for a red one, there's none available.Actually I'm the female artiste with the most red dresses; I wore red in my commercial so when i went pass a clothing store and I saw a red dress, i bought it straight away. There's been lots of events I had to go recently and I cant find clothes to wear. Luckily it's not that cold these few days so I can still wear my spring clothings."

Two nights ago, Joey received awards for TVB8 Chart Gold Song and the Global Audience Most Beloved Cantonese Song as well Mainland's Most Popular Female Singer. Although the Most Popular Female Singer award went to Jolin Tsai, Joey was not disappointed and she was happy with her own awards. She feels the Mainland market is big and to break into the market smoothly is not an easy task.

Riding on the success of The Girl With Brandished Wings (My Pride's mandarin version), Joey successfully break into the Chinese market, with many commercial and performance offers. She was also invited by CCTV, China's biggest TV station to perform this song at their Spring Dinner concert. Compared to Andy Lau with wins on both side of the entertainment industry, and Jolin getting the Most Popular Female Singer award, Joey laughed and said: "I never thought I'd get the Global Audience Beloved Cantonese Song award and I'm so happy, the rice I had in my mouth almost drop to the floor!"

Besides that, a voting event for CRHK's Most Beloved Singer awards was held yesterday with its nominees present. They are Leo Ku, Chet Lam, Joey, Gigi Leung and Miriam Yeung. Joey Says She's No.1 Pirate

Joey, Eason Chan and Francis Ng's film Crazy in The City (previous title: Crazy Heroic Pair) is scheduled to be relased January next year and will be next year's first HK film to be shown in the cinemas.

After working on 2 other films, Joey is again paired with Eason and fireworks are expected from their pairing. In Crazy in The City, Joey acts as a new member to the police force who is passionate towards her job and is a straighforward person. However, her passion toward her job got her into funny situation. The character is very similar to Miriam Yeung's character in Love Undercover. In order to make her character look real, Joey underwent hours of researching on how a woman police goes about her job. She also met with a real policewoman and learn the right way to hold a gun. Director James Yuen praised Joey on her job attitude, even Francis Ng, her co-star said Joey has acting ability.

The night before last, Joey accepted a radio interview. They talked about moments in 80s films that are hard to forget. Joey answers that she's a top pirate. She says: "When I was little, we loved to borrow tapes to watch. After we finished watching one, we'll go downstairs and borrow the second one. That's why I think a number 1 pirate." Joey Wants Longer Holiday

Somewhere earlier this year, after Joey made a request for EEG to increase her payroll, there were no more request of this kind. Instead she's asking the company for a holiday break. For the Chinese New Year, she plans go to holidaying in Europe for 7 days. She wanted a longer break but unfortunately her comopany only allows 7 days. Although the holiday is going to be a short one, she still wants to go to Europe. She told reporters she really want a break and go to a place where you dont see Chinese characters anywhere and only foreigners. This is what a relaxing holidays should be! Joey attended The Golden Oldies concert yesterday night. The performers are Uncle Ray, Joey, Eason Chan, Andy Hui,Edmond Leung and Jade Kwan.

Joey was arranged to perform two duets with Cheung Tak Lan. Joey wasnt worried about singing these 2 songs, she says: "I've hearing these songs ever since I was little. My father listens to them so I dont need to practise much because they are all in my head." She was delighted to know she will be performing these songs. This Christmas, Joey need to work. She says:"My company already arranged for me to go in the studio on the day before Christmas eve. That's because I have to rush several Christmas tree lighting events. I'll be singing Christmas carols with a couple of kids then, it's going to be fun." Although she had to work, Joey is not complaining and says: "I'm a workaholic. If I holiday too long, I'll get restless."

Besides that, EEG had just released a Christmas album featuring Twins, Boy'z, Yumiko Cheng and Isabella Leung. Joey and Hacken Hosts MV Premiere

Yesterday Joey and Hacken Lee appeared for the premiere of their MV,Not A Moment At Ease. Both were standing outside the windows of the third floor of a karaoke centre, hosting the opening of their billboard. Although they were standing so high up, Joey joked she wasnt scared, instead afraid that the huge cloth covering the ad falls on her head. Hacken received word that producers from South East Asia and China are pleased with this duet song with Joey and said they want a Mandarin version of the song. Hacken reveals he will be releasing 3 albums in one month soon. Besides his own album, another would the Music Is Live cd with Joey.

For Joey, she has never thought of getting any award from this song although she's been working with Hacken a lot this year. Does she think she has a chance to get Popular Female Singer award? In conjunction with the Christmas season, Coca Cola has invited Joey to shoot another Coke ad and the MV. Besides TV commercial, prints and posters, Joey will also be seen on Coke cans and bottles. From these all, you can see how heavy the promotion done by Coke for Joey.

Joey decided to give out bottles of Coke that has her image on, to the public. Her record company gave her a present which is releasing her theme song called Chihuahua on CD. The CD is a single and is of limited stock. It also comes with a cellphone strap and Joey Christmas cards. This also marks Joey's very first CD single and she feels elated. It will on CD shelves tomorrow.

Joey will also be the first HK artiste to have her voice heard by MTR commuters by using a new system called in-train sound ad. Yesterday Joey appeared as guest on CRHK DJ Sammy and Siu Yee's Colour Cafe programme and made a green tea and red bean cake. Despite the number of times she ever enters the kitchen is low, the cake she managed to make did look good. She revealed that last year on her birthday, she made a cake for herself. As for her sweet and sour prawn balls which is her best dish, she learned cooking the dish during home economics.

Joey is looking fit nowadays but she told reporters that she's been eating three full meals a day and even had supper. She was still hungry though. She laughed saying :"I heard that when one reaches 25, the metabolism in the body slows down. So I better eat what I want to eat and eat it before I'm 25. Yesterday, Joey went for her ancient costume dance rehearsal in Tseung Kwan O. The dance is for Tung Wah Charity Show. For Joey, dancing Chinese dances are very much like fighting. This is Joey's first time dancing and wearing ancient costumes and she said there is one part she will have a pose exactly like Zhang Ziyi did in House of Flying Daggers. Although the rehearsal yesterday was the only time she practised, Joey is not worried because the show is going to be pre-recorded.

At press conference for RTHK and Po Leung Kuk's Golden Oldies Concert yesterday, Joey revealed when she was shooting a Coca Cola Chihuahua cowgirl dance, her dancers had to spin her round and round, causing her to feel dizzy. During this press conference, Joey, Maria Cordero, Albert Au and many more veteran singers celebrated Uncle Ray's 80th birthday. Joey was the youngest singer. And because of the age difference, when the others are dancing and enjoying themselves, Joey was sitting alone. She later joined in. Yesterday, TVB held a JSG Top Ten Songs award press conference. There were a huge crowd of people there and all the artistes had to force their way into the venue. Gillian Chung almost tripped on her way in.Later, Gillian explained what happened and Joey took this opportunity to tell the media about an embarassing moment as well : "When I was in Shanghai for a show, Victoria (Beckham) almost tripped. Really dangerous." Joey also joked that she and Gillian can form a group called Bit Bop Group.

Joey is known to be a cat lover and yesterday she attended a Hello Kitty Christmas Playground Celebration in Metrocity Mall in Tseung Kwan O.Ever since she entered the entertainment biz, she had never celebrated Christmas in Hk, moreover she's never free on that day as she always had work to do. Joey wore a off-shoulder pink fauxfur top for a commercial shooting of a skincare company. The shooting went on for about 10 hours. To match with the mature and grand look for the commercial, Joey had underwent 2 hours of hair styling and makeup. A big fan was brought in and the crew had it blow towards Joey for that hair(mind?) blowing effect. Joey's body was aching all over afterwards.

Despite the hardship encountered while filming this commercial, Joey definitely loved the look and shameless promoted the skincare company's products : "I used to fly alot and my skin used to peel because it cant cope with it. Yesterday, Joey was in Tsim Sha Tsui attending charity sales organised by the Hong Kong Blood Cancer Foundation where 3 of the radio sold has Joey's autograph on them. The fans certainly know what to do; a total of HK$2000 was collected in 10 minutes from the sales!

Joey happily said: "Knowing that the response from fans has been encouraging, I ought to participate more in charity events so that the fans can be educated in helping those in need. I hope I would be able to set up a fund to help children get educated or get medical help. Maybe I'll open a school called Children's Playground! (You want to follow in the footsteps of Kelly Chen by opening a fund and a school as well as getting the Outstanding Young Person of The World (OYPW) award?)Getting OYPW award is not important; helping people is. James Wong aka Uncle Jim was remembered last night with a broadcasted TV special where a group of singers sung his compositions. Due to pressure, Joey did not perform that well.

Joey attended 2 other events prior to the show recording. When she arrived there, she specially selected Superstar to sing. However, she was nervous and felt pressured and therefore had to practice twice and record her part 3 times. The reason she was nervous is because this song were sung by many great singers such as Roman Tam, Leslie Cheung and Anita Mui and she had to live up to it. Joey had just completed a shooting on a TV commercial, prints and MV for Coke Chihuahua. They are scheduled to be released near Christmas and Joey is the first female singer in HK to have her picture on both Coke's cans and plastic bottles. Her theme song for the commercial called Chihuahua will be released as a CD single.

There are 3 parts in the TV commercial. In one of the parts, Joey saw a misted window and playfully draw Santa with its eyes too close to each other. Suddenly Santa came out and tapped on her shoulder. That particular scene took 10 takes because the person playing Santa was very shy. A light tap on Joey's shoulder has already gotten him so nervous that Joey laughed.To produce a winter Christmas atmosphere, Joey had to wear a sweater in the 28 degree celcius room, dancing. The makeup crew had to touch up on her makeup after every take and wipe her sweat.

The death of Uncle Jim (James Wong Jim), a famous lyricist stunned many people. Yesterday, Joey accepted a radio interview and said they both met during a concert in which she was one of the guests.Her mentor, Roman Tam was the one who brought her to the show and then later Uncle Jim requested her to appear on his show. Joey, without any hesitation, agreed to come on and Uncle Jim praised her for her bravery as not many artistes are willing to appear.

Although Joey and Uncle Jim seldom keep in touch, however, a few months back, Uncle Jim praised her during a radio interview. He said Joey was much more mature and calmer than when she first started out. At that time, Joey called him up to thank him and both chatted for a while. He gave her lots of encouraging words. A couple of nights ago, Joey and Hacken Lee performed for the finale part of CRHK's Music Is Live concert. The performance that night was spectacular. Both record companies top executives and singers attended the concert which includes EEG's boss and his wife, Ng Yu, Mani Fok and Universal Music's Vice Chairman Hungdi with Shawn Yue, Emme Wong, Jolie Chan and Don Li.

When Joey and Hacken was lifted high up in the air, Joey asked Hacken : "Why dont you come over to my company?" Hacken laughed and looked at his company's vice chairman : "Hungdi is looking so happy, so since the company has already signed Eason on, can I be released?" Mr Yeung was seen laughing at the joke and Joey embarrasingly said : "I'm still a kid so I dont know anything." Both singers joked alot during the show. Joey joked that she's been listening to Hacken's music since she was little : "When I was younger, I used to go into TV City to watch Tung Wah Charity Show. I wanted to take a photo with Hacken Goh Goh when I saw him. With his smirk and tongue sticking out then, he seem 'charismatic' so in the end, I had to take that photo with him unwillingly." The crowd laughed. Hacken: "Are you saying I'm old?You're wrong. It's just I having a concert with someone who's older than me? This is the first time Joey and Hacken are working together but they do seem like a compatible pair. Kung Fu Soccer TVB Premiere Celebration

Film company, Universe held a celebration party in Tsim Sha Tsui the night before to celebrate the serial Kung Fu Soccer's premiere on TVB this December 12. The cast members of the serial attended. Joey had just got back from Canada and said she had fun there. She jokingly said that she was 'harrassed' by a young boy.

She asked the boy whether the concert was fun or not, the boy answered, unexpectedly : "It will be fun if you took off your clothes." Joey was so taken aback by this that she didnt know whether to laugh or cry. She then told the boy that she will inform his parents about this and had the whole crowd laughing along. Joey went into a casino to try her luck and came out with a winning of CAD$25. Although it's not a big sum of money but still she was elated over her win.

Besides that, as usual at the end of every year, there are the award presentations. On the list of favourite female singers, Joey and Miriam Yeung are the hot favourites. Although both have a good relationship with one another, the same cannot be said about their fans with the dissing and bad-mouthing happening on the Net. The night before last, EEG held a celebration party for Joey. The reason for the celebration: Joey has sold a total of 60 platinum records for all her albums released in the period of 4 years. 60 platinum records equals 3 million album copies sold worldwide. Joey has recently signed a deal with Coca Cola to become their image girl and Coca Cola have already started to promote Joey with advertisements in newspapers, magazines, public places and TV commercial. Joey will be singing the commercial theme song.

The previous night ,the atmosphere where the filming of Coke's commercial was done was very Christmas-y especially when Joey wore a red sweater. William Chan was the guest star. During interview, Joey suddenly expressed she wants to be thrifty. Reporters noticed the sweater she was wearing was a few seasons old and there was a small tear on one of the sleeves. Joey says: "Because there's so many commercials to do recently and most of them want me to wear red. Subsequently, i had to rush home and look for red clothings. This sweater is about 4, 5 years old."

Sh also explained why she's using back old stuff : "I'm hoping I wont have to stop working until I'm 30. Yesterday, Joey attended Po Leung Kuk-sponsored Child Sponsorship Programme press conference as their celebrity spokesperson. This event asks people to donate their money and get a donation card. On the spot, Joey got to work immediately, asking the public to do their part in the donation campaign. Besides that, Joey also got to do origami stuff. She, with young kids and the volunteers gather together to learn to fold paper swans. Alas, for Joey however, her paper-folding work didnt really turn out as a swan. Rather it looked more like a paper chicken! Nevertheless, Joey and the others are requested to fold 1000 of them for charity.

Joey said she's sponsoring a child as well; an African girl aged 6. Fresh New Look With Short Hair

This time around, she's experimenting with short hair extensions for that needed fresh look. The look goes well with the 'healthy skin' image in the commercial.

About this new fresh look, Joey says: "I havent tried short hair for a very long time. With this new hairstyle presented to the public, it actually feels fresh." Besides changing the hairstyle, Joey also wore a low cut tube top which was a larger size. The shoulders of the top kept slipping down and she had to be careful in case it falls down. She also discussed beauty products with the crew : "Skincare products must always be changed according to the climates. EEG is well-known for filling their popular EEG artistes' schedules up to the brim with work. After the news about Twins having to go to the hospital due to overwork, Joey is the second artiste to be affected by the 'exhaustion due to overwork' illness. Her voice is not the only part that is having problem. According to her traditional medicine doctor, she is also suffering from liver and kidney problems and the doctor advised her that she must be in bed by 10.30 every night, or not, the medicine he gave to her will not be able to help.

Yesterday, Joey attended an event organised by Metro Radio and was seen holding a thermos containing soup prepared by her mum. Joey said that recently her eyes are very dry and very tired so she went and see a traditional doctor. After inspection, the doctor told her that her liver and kidney are problematic but didnt specific what kind of problems. "The doctor told me that I must be in bed by 10.30 every night. If i dont, the medicine wont work. So I answered him that if I can afford to sleep at 10.30 every night, I wont have to come to see him." She also pointed out that working in HK can be hectic with loads of work and loads of pressure. Therefore, most HK people sleep late, causing health problems like liver and kidney illnesses. However, she continued saying that adopting an optimistic and carefree temperament towards these illnesses are helpful.

Besides that, Miriam Yeung states that she doesnt care about getting awards and she doesnt feel sentimental towards them because releasing albums are more important. Joey was asked on this and she expresses that awards are not that important to her as well. Is she satisfied with getting only one Most Popular Female Singer award? She answered : "I didnt said I dont want to get that award. It's just we need to have a relaxed attitude and not fuss too much over it." Joey and her juniors in EEG participated in EEG Sports Day held in Wan Chai yesterday. Those who couldnt come are Nic Tse, Charlene Choi and Boy'z due to work commitments. Other than that, MTV Asia channel invited Joey to perform in MTV Asia Sessions and this concert was held the night before. Joey will be the very first Chinese singer to appear on MTV Asia Session for an umplugged concert tonight. Yesterday, her newest Cantonese album for the second half of 2004, Give Love a Break, was released. However, she complained of 'womanly pains' during an event. Joey and Yumiko Cheng performed at the Princess Model Of The World 2004 Hong Kong which is a modelling competition held the night before last night. The guest-of-honour at the competition was the Dutch Prince Carlos Bourbon de Parme. The prince managed to watch the dance performance from Yumiko before he went to the gents. However, when he came out from the gents, the reporters rushed up and start clicking their cameras away. It could be due to shyness in front of the cameras, the prince wouldnt come out and had to wait till the bodyguard come and get him.Unfortunately, Joey already performed her songs then and the prince didnt make it in time to see her on stage.

Yesterday, Joey accepted a radio interview in CRHK and told the host that her vocal cords werent at their best for some time now and to prevent from ruining he upcoming 15 days of concerts, she had already flew over to Nanjing for accupunture treatment. In fact, ever since the year she lose her voice, she's been going for accupunture treatment until now.Her company understands a singer's voice is where he or she gets her income hence even the trip takes up a few days, it was worth it.The treatment is supposed to last ten days per treatment, but there's hardly much free time in Joey's schedule, therefore there's two treatment a day.

Mentioned about a tabloid magazine that put a list of artistes who had plastic surgery, it was surprising to see Joey's name on it. Joey tells that the particular magazine is well known for their made-up and very unbelievable stories. However, she says her thanks to the magazine because they took really pretty pictures of her. She joked : "I'm very positive person, they like to use these sort of ways and make up stories and will never say I've gotten pretty in a direct way. Plus I'm prettier than last time, my make-up person is the most happiest, definitely."

Does she think HK people are not accepting the concept of plastic surgery? She answered: "It's their own choice if they want to have plastic surgery. I'm OK with it. In Korea, this is a norm for them because they can save money up on cosmetics. Every girl wish they are pretty anyway." The annual award presentations are coming again and Joey is in the running for TVB's Most Popular Female Singer award once more. To further strengthen her standing in the nomination list, Joey will soon be releasing her album on the 14th of this month. Although the HK economy is seeing better days, the same cannot be said about the album market. Even so, as one of her company's treasured singers, EEG gave their fullest support and the sponsors are helping her out as well. A total amount of nearly 20 million HK dollars from EEG and sponsors were invested for the promotion of her album.

A lot of effort can be seen being put into this new album. The cover and content pics inside are from Britain and Chingdao, China where the production fee are as high as 3 million HK dollars. Earlier, Joey went to Ching diao to shoot her mvs and album cover pictures. her trip lasted a whole week, where she had to work virtually 14 hrs/day. although tired, Joey was eager about the wonderful foods they had there.

A little story happened when Joey finished her shooting and were going to celebrate the finishing of their work. She and 5 or workers were going for a foot massage. She thought that nobody would know her there, but to make sure, she tried to hide her identity from the massager by telling him that most of the people coming along with her are her relatives. However, this didn't work because when she was finished her massage, the massager went away and came back with a NJAPF vcd and asked Joey to give her autograph and requested to take a photo with her! later, the massager even walked her out back to her vehicle.

Joey and Hacken breaking company barriers

Hacken and Joey, one from Universal, one from EEG have broken the boundaries between their record companies and will be having a concert together. As well, they will be recording a duet song together. They've also planned to continue to open more doors between other record companies. This has triggered other companies to drop their stubborness in not working with artists of other companies. Overall, this movement will bring upon new combinations and bring good to the HK music industry.

Both Hacken and Joey are both talented idol artists. Last year, in the TVB Jade 10 gold songs awards, they respectedly recieved most popular male and female artists and hope to make some new fireworks out of this partnership. Previously, Hacken had sang duet songs with Emme, Jolie, and Kelly where Emme and Jolie are also Universal company artists. Although kelly isn't directly from Unversal music, but indirectly she is in the same enterprise company as Hacken. Joey on the other hand, is completely separate from Universal, so this is the very first breakthrough in regards to artists working with artists from other companies.

One of the first hard steps to do that, is to not have any discrepancies over which companie gets legal rights of the song and which doesn't. Sometimes neither company will want to compromise or give up the rights, so recordings of duets that are of different companies are very rare. However, the poor music market in Hk right now forbids them to do nothing. Hopefully, Hacken and Joey's example will create a new advancement in the industry.

How did this happen in the first place? Hacken has been preparing and recording for his new cd, and nearly the same time, there is the music show with Joey, so hacken brought up the idea to have a duet song with Joey secretly recorded in his new cd. He offered Joey of the partnership, and Joey had interest in doing so as well, and for now, they've given the responsibilities of the legal problems to their companies. Yesterday, Joey and Hacken attended the news conference at jim sa jeuy for their upcoming music show, "Hacken x Joey Crhk 903, music extension show" (nevermind the name translation *rolleyes* ) The hosts asked Joey and Hacken to write out what their first impression of each other was. Hacken wrote down, "big gums, beautiful voice" and describes Joey as "leuy dai sup baat been." Joey wrote down, "Face looked very mean, but person is very nice." Joey said that she had listened to hacken's songs as she grew up, and he is one of her idols.

Hacken revealed that this is the firs time Universal Music and EEG has ever partnershiped to create an event like this and he thanks Crhk for being the middle person and pulling these 2 head to head record companies together in a good way.

News reporters described that when Joey was a newcomer, she was an artist that relied upon singing skills and was by far notwhat you would call pretty, and sometimes, people would compare her to Cass Pang (incredible singer, but a soso face) However, over the past couple years, as Joey has become a superstar, her appearance has changed dramatically. Reporters compared photographs of Joey a few years ago with now and concluded that Joey's nose seems sharper, and her chin seems longer, even joey's gums don't seem to be as big as they used to be when she was "gums queen", and saying that such improvements don't seem to be something very simple. Firstly, upon crossing the border and entering China, Joey's assistant was constantly bombarded her and disallowing them to cross. Finally, after a long while, they managed to successively move on. When Joey arrived at the fashion store, things became kinda dangerous, with lots of aggressive fans that almost broke the gates through. Some of the events had to be cancelled for the sake of Joey safety.

Yesterday, Joey wore a waist revealing oufit to an "H20+ clean skin care" event. When she arrived, she was surrounded by many security guards and hundreds of fans. At the event, Joey demonstrated putting on masks and skin care practices on a few spectators. People complemented on joey's skin care skills.

Joey revealed the secret that she used to steal her mum's skin care products and used them for herself when she was less than 10 yrs old and that all her knowledge in skin care is all from her mum. Joey believes that skin care is very important to a woman, especially as a woman gets older and older. Joey hopes that her skin can keep this condition like a 20-yr old forever! Reporters asked joey if she would open a skin care center when she was older. Joey replied saying that that's very possible! Afterall, she's a gemini and She loves to help people put on makeup, and draw eyelashes. Sometimes, she'd help her assistant put on makeup and stuff. However, to open a skin care beauty center, she'd have to wait till at least 30 yrs old.

Reporters asked joey if she had ever thought of plastic surgery. "NO!" she says. Reporters again ask what body part would she use plastic surgery to help, joey says "no is no, i wont even think about it" She adds that people only hear about people get more beautiful after plastic surgery but they never hear about how those people after a few yrs become more ugly. Joey believes taht nobody is perfect, and will always have "body parts" to improve on. Well what is joey's most unliked body traits? Last night, Joey performed at the 55th anniversary of the Republic of China. To start the show, a pack of good singers, Hacken, Joey, and Gigi opened the show impressively by singing the song "#1 of the universe" which is the representative song for the 2008 Beijing olympics. Gigi wore a 1/2 sexy low-cut shiny shirt while Joey put some effort in her special hair. Althought all 3 singers were suffering throat discomforts due to infections, all of them performed very well. Aside from this, Reporters believe that the female singers for this show were a lot more conservative for the respect of the event.

Joey @ Shanghai Moon Festival Night Concert

Joey was selected by a Beijing commity to perform at the Moon Festival Night Concert in Shanghai. The only other hk artist who performed was Anthony Wong. The 2 were appointed to come and were the representatives of hk artists. Joey was told she'd have to sing "my pride" mando version at the concert. However, because the lyrics are slightly sad, she'd sing a different version of lyrics.

This event is a huge event, not only will the event be lively broadcasted country-wide. The show was pre-recorded the night before as a back-up. And because of that, both joey and yew ming had to spend their moon festival night in shanghai. Reporters joked, even though joey can't "yun yune lerng tune yeut" go through the special holiday, she has a handsome Anthony Wong to spend the night with. (Phil: jeez.... him handsome???)

Joey's new movie finally airs

Yesterday, Joey, Ching Waan and Yumiko were at the first screening of their new movie, "sun gui yook guai". Joey wore an old-type dress, however, much of the screens were stolen by yumiko's fishnet bra-top. Still, Joey didn't feel upset at Yumiko and told reporters that she thinks that Yumiko is a pretty girl and that her own outfit isn't bad, and doesn't think that Yumiko is stealing her from the cameras.

Joey was asked of what was her favorite moment in working with Ching Waan, she replied that it was the time when she once pretended to be a little fans and took a picture with him. Reporters then brought up the fact that at the same time, 2046 is playing virtually at the same time. Is joey afraid at all? She says that as long as she's done her own work and her acting, there's nothing she needs to worry about, even if there are problems, it would be her company that would have to care about it.

Joey says that someone complemented on her acting the other day, and her mum said that her acting has definitely improved. She gives this credit to Ching Waan and lau man jak, saying that they allowed and taught her how to get into the acting better. Joey rates her acting in this movie from 65-75 points out of 100!

Yesterday, a total of 7 hk artists performed at a music concert in Guangzhou, including Joey, Aaron kwok, twins, karen Mok, gigi, leo and andy hui. Joey was asked about how 5 of her songs off her new cd have been available in karoakes, would she be afraid of people using them to record her songs and release upon the internet free-dling market. Joey said, there's nothing they can do about it, but still, she's confident that her cd will still be very successful. For some reason, ah Sa told reporters that the situation has already gotten better, but Joey butted in, "no, of course not" Ah Sa ended up apologizing. Joey also said that to fight against pirating, they'll have to continue to work at it, and that the process will require time.

Joey has been very busy lately with the playing of her latest movie, "sun giu yuk guai." Newsreporters asked Joey that she must be getting lots of chances to see her idol, lau ching waan and since she had just broken up with her boyfriend, would she use ching waan as something to replace him or at least make her feel better? Joey replied and told newsreporters to not think of her as a "fan" but more like someone who really admires such a great man (ching waan) and that she also admires his wife.

Joey was asked if she would use Ching waan as a the bar level for her ideal partner, ie boyfriend. Joey said that men like Ching Waan are very hard to find. Ching Waan's person, his special image... She also let out and told reporters that never can she look at Ching waan face to face...

EEG talent contest

Last night, Joey and Dave Wong were performers and judges at the the "EEG" new talent singing contest (i think it's singing :roll: ) in shanghai. A total of 14 contestants participated, however, there was one contestant who's cousin got kidnapped and murdered recently and was unable to compete due to the extreme emotional impact and suffering.

Joey was asked about what she thought about the rumours that A Mei and Stephanie Seun whom decided not to perform at a big music concert in Guangzhou was due to the fact that they had not produced any cds this yr. Joey said that different artists from different places/countries do different things and she says she can't comment on it.
